The Reckoning

The Reckoning
Author: Kelley Armstrong
Publisher: Harper Collins/April 2010
Series: Darkest Powers #3
Genre: Young Adult/Supernatural/Science Fiction

Chloe Saunders is fifteen and would love to be normal. Unfortunately, Chloe happens to be a genetically engineered necromancer who can raise the dead without even trying. She and her equally gifted (or should that be ‘cursed’?) friends are now running for their lives from the evil corporation that created them.

As if that’s not enough, Chloe is struggling with her feelings for Simon, a sweet-tempered sorcerer, and his brother Derek, a not so sweet-tempered werewolf. And she has a horrible feeling she’s leaning towards the werewolf…

Definitely not normal. {goodreads.com}

Review

Just like the previous Kelley Armstrong books I have reviewed (The Summoning, The Awakening), I completely enjoyed this last edition to the series.

I found that this novel had too many unresolved issues. We never found out exactly WHO Edison group is, we never found out about Tori and her issues, we FOUND out about Genesis I, but NOT what happened to them. I honestly felt let down. I do know that we find out about Project Phoenix (which does lead in to her new series) but Armstrong never clarifies if all will completely tie in and our questions will be answered, which I am hoping for. So, until I get some clarification I will have to be a bit dissatisfied.

Although, there were some problems, overall, the novel was fantastic. Chloe grows as a character, we find out more about their powers, the romance develops and grows and the writing has definitely improved.

As with Armstrong’s previous novels I highly recommend reading this novel.
